Report: Social Media Exposes Emerging Risks to Europe’s Green Energy Sector
In this report, we analyze conversations surrounding six green transition technologies across 10 European countries, highlighting key insights for investors.
The report demonstrates that across Europe, discussions vary significantly based on regional context. For instance, the reception of new high-voltage power lines differs markedly between regions: in Andalusia, Spain, they are welcomed as symbols of economic progress, while in Sweden, they have become a major source of public opposition, particularly fueled by the Sweden Democrats.
Similar contrasts emerge when comparing German and French discussions. The different political approaches to nuclear power have led to distinctly different conversations.
Looking at Denmark specifically, we have identified clear patterns in wind and solar power discussions over the past two and a half years: Danish MPs are increasingly distancing themselves from the conversion efforts, while the debate has become more localized and public sentiment toward wind and solar power has grown more negative.
Overall, these findings raise significant concerns for businesses and investors.
